Meet Executive Board Member Joey Cowart!
Born and raised on his family’s farm in Twin City, Emanuel County, Georgia, Joey graduated with honors from Georgia Southern University and then obtained his law degree from Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia. He has practiced law in Bulloch County for the past 26 years. Joey is married to Ellen, and they have two daughters. Madeline will be an upcoming senior at UGA, and Katie will be an incoming freshman at UGA.
When asked why he joined The Camilla Foundation Board, Joey stated, “After having both prosecuted and defended folks accused of committing criminal offenses for over a quarter of a century, I have come to but one conclusion: if we are to improve, we must be proactive in prevention rather than simply reactive in punishment. Diagnosing and treating Mental Health issues are a necessary component of that process and doing so at an early age is vital.”
